TULPEHOCKEN PLACE

Multi-Family Housing  /  Philadelphia, PA
Tulpehocken Place is a new ground up development directly adjacent to the historic Tulpehocken train station in Germantown, PA.  The project consists of 3 separate buildings (as shown).  The three buildings include a 5-story 60 unit building with amenities in the walk out basement and 2 other separate buildings that include 18 bi-level residential dwellings. A fourth structure, consisting of 4 bi-level units, is proposed for the future, increasing the total number of units to 78.

The design of the development had to carefully navigate several challenges, including building around historic trees, working with a steep hill, and being sensitive to the sunlight and views of neighboring properties. Despite these obstacles, the project successfully a creates more density adjacent to the SEPTA commuter rail while maintaining harmony with the surrounding environment through the use of natural finishes and minimally invasive site planning.
